EU / US Import Taxes, Shipping and Website Updates

Important information about EU and US import taxes, shipping options, HS code fees and cumulative discounts on Starko Tools.

EU orders

After the new EU import rules came into force, there is no longer a minimum VAT-free threshold for EU imports. This means that all EU orders are now subject to import VAT.

The VAT rate is usually around 20%, depending on the destination country.

Order value How import VAT is paid
Up to €150, or the equivalent in USD Import VAT can be prepaid during checkout. Starko Tools collects this VAT and transfers it through the postal customs process to the customs authorities of the destination country.
€150 or more Import VAT is not prepaid during checkout. The customer pays import VAT directly during customs clearance when the parcel arrives in the destination country.
Important: Prepaid import VAT is available only with Ukrposhta postal delivery.

Shipping options

Ukrposhta postal delivery

Ukrposhta has shown good and stable delivery results. Estimated delivery times can be found in the Info menu.

Courier delivery: UPS / FedEx

If you prefer courier delivery by UPS or FedEx, please choose “Request courier delivery” at checkout.

I will send the available courier delivery options and prices to your email.

Courier delivery is usually significantly more expensive and only a few days faster. Import taxes and customs fees are paid by the customer before receiving the parcel.

Please also note that return processing for refused courier parcels is more complicated. More information is available in the Info menu.

EU countries currently available for prepaid import VAT and customs fee

At the moment, prepaid import VAT and the related customs fee for low-value EU orders are available only for selected EU countries.

This applies to orders up to €150, or the equivalent in USD, shipped by standard postal delivery.

Country ISO code Import VAT rate Customs fee
Denmark DK 25% €3 per unique HS code / customs line
Germany DE 19% €3 per unique HS code / customs line
Malta MT 18% €3 per unique HS code / customs line
Spain ES 21% €3 per unique HS code / customs line
Note: For these countries, import VAT and the related customs fee can be shown and paid during checkout for eligible orders up to €150.
Other EU countries may be added to prepaid import VAT and customs fee handling in the future. Until then, customers from other EU countries may need to pay import VAT, customs fees and related charges during customs clearance when the parcel arrives in their country.

Possible local postal service fees in some EU countries

In some EU countries, the local postal operator may charge the recipient an additional service fee for customs processing or delivery handling.

These fees are set by the destination country or local postal operator, not by Starko Tools. The amounts below are provided for reference and may change.

Note: If import VAT or the €3 EU customs fee was not prepaid during checkout, these amounts may be added to the local service fee charged to the recipient.

Additional EU customs fee by HS code

For EU shipments, an additional €3 customs fee may apply for each unique HS code / customs line in the order.

HS codes are shown in the product catalog for each item.

Order contents Fee handling
Only items with HS code 820551 Starko Tools covers this €3 fee.
Items with other HS codes The website automatically adds €3 for each additional unique HS code. This fee is added per unique code, not per item.
Note: The fee is calculated per unique HS code / customs line, not per product quantity.

Combining related items

In some cases, several related items can be combined into one product set after the order is placed.

Examples:

  • an awl handle and awl blades can be declared as one awl with blades;
  • a wick can be included with an alcohol lamp;
  • a hanging ring can be included with a wooden-handled hand tool.

In such cases, only one €3 fee applies for the corresponding HS code.

This is done manually after the order is placed and applies only to accessory items that can logically be included with the main product.

The list of such items can be found in the additional product information in the Info menu.

US orders

For US customers, the import tax system works in a similar way. This rule has been in effect since August 29, 2025.

For the United States: the import duty for Ukrainian-origin goods is 10%.

Cumulative discount

The cumulative discount now applies immediately when you place an order.

The discount is based on the total value of your previous orders plus your current order. The maximum cumulative discount is 10%.

You can also see your total order amount and current discount percentage in your User Control Panel.
